Cavalier Colors

BLENHEIM

This is Charlotte, our gorgeous Blenheim female CKCS. This color has a rich chestnut markings on a pearly white background called Blenheim in honor of Blenheim Palace. John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, raised the predecessors to the Cavalier breed in this particular color. This is considered a parti color.
In some dogs there is a chestnut (black on Tricolored) spot in the middle of the forehead: this is called the "Blenheim" spot. The Blenheim spot is also known as the mark of the "Duchess Thumb Print", based on the legend that Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough while awaiting news of her husband's safe return from the Battle of Blenheim, pressed the head of an expecting dam with her thumb, resulting in five puppies bearing the lucky mark after news that the battle had been won. This spot has also been called "Queen's Kiss", and by old tradition considered blessed by the Queen.

TRI-COLOR

This is Augustus, a beautiful Tricolor male CKCS. The color is known as Tricolor, which is black and white with tan markings on cheeks, inside ears, on eyebrows, inside legs, and on underside of tail. This is considered a parti color and can have a "Queen's Kiss" on the top of their head.

RUBY

This is Bear, a handsome Ruby male CKCS. Ruby Cavaliers should be entirely chestnut all over, although some can have some white in their coats. This is considered a solid color.

BLACK AND TAN

This is Quill, an amazing Black and Tan male CKCS. He is owned and this picture was taken by Karilyn Hotchkiss. Black and Tan are dogs with black bodies with tan highlights, particularly eyebrows, cheeks, legs and beneath the tail. Some have white in their coat. This is considered a solid color.

CHOCOLATES
In addition to the four classic colored Cavaliers, their is the rare chocolate gene in Cavaliers! It is a gene that turns any black into brown. It is a recessive gene that must be carried by both parents to produce chocolates. This is an amazing gene that must be bred carefully to produce healthy babies!
Common questions: Are they purebred Cavaliers? Can they be registered with AKC?
Yes, and Yes! They are 100% Cavaliers as confirmed via DNA results on ALL of our adults. They also CAN be registered with the AKC. If you have any other questions I would love to talk about it!
This is a very old gene that is making a come back. I am very honored and excited to be apart of it! Health and bettering the breed is very important to me, so puppies will be a few years down the road as we work on our lines.

TRI-COLOR CHOCOLATE

This is Chip, owned by Robyn. As you can see he looks just like a classic Tricolor but with Chocolate instead of black. Absolutely stunning!
